What is Muscle Tearing? Why and How?

Another name for muscle tear is tendon tear. The muscles made of fibers are all the structures that allow us to move around by wrapping the skeletal structure system of the human body. Stretching or straining of the muscles for different reasons may result in tendon tear or muscle tear. In general, muscle tear, which becomes a condition that can be experienced in sports people, is called bleeding between fibers. If you do the exercises in our daily life longer than usual, or if you do more repetitions, muscle tears will occur due to forcing the muscles.

What are the main causes of muscle tear? Which is most commonly seen in sports rafts. What should be considered?

Degrees of Muscle Tearing

Muscle tear usually occurs in people involved in football, swimming, basketball, volleyball, handball and weightlifting. It is divided into 3 groups. These groups can be listed as follows.

   1. Degree Muscle Tear: It is the rupture that occurs as a result of removing more than one muscle. 1st degree muscle tears, which are called very slight stresses, cause pain. Does not prevent the muscle from working again. But if it is forced, it will cause big tears.
  2.  Degree Muscle Tear: More fiber damage than 1st degree muscle tears. Swelling or bruising may also be observed, while pain may occur which is considered to be severe.
3.Degree Muscle Tear: Occurs as a result of stresses that cause muscles to break partly or completely. It is divided into two parts from the muscle tendon. During the rupture of these two tendons, the sound of explosion is heard to be considered as slight. During this rupture, the muscle completely loses its function, causing swelling, discoloration and severe pain.

The main causes of muscle tear

Acute muscle tear is an unexpected rupture of the muscles. Such tears may occur after serious disability or trauma. The main causes of this rupture are as follows.

    Limited and poor flexibility
Not enough good warm-up before physical activity
    Excessive fatigue and general fatigue

There is a misconception that violent or high intensity exercise causes muscle tear. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, muscle tears may even occur when walking. Acute muscle tear in this direction is likely to result in sudden slipping of your feet, running, jumping, lifting a heavy load, throwing something, and tearing your muscles while playing football. Particularly, the reason for tearing the muscles of people engaged in bodybuilding sports may also be caused by not warming up well.

Muscle tear Treatment Method

In case of severe pain, bruising and swelling of the muscular part of the muscle which is exposed for various reasons, it is necessary to consult a specialist physician immediately. After muscle tear, the patient should rest. It should be our priority to prevent the damage from growing and bleeding. It is recommended to apply ice compresses every 2 to 3 hours.

The wounded part needs to be kept high. In order to reduce the pain, physical therapy should be applied besides external drug therapy. Tissue massages and exercises are strengthened by touch. During this time, the tear tissue closes and the healing rate increases. All these recommended techniques should be strictly recommended by a doctor.

Arm Muscle Pain and Chronic Muscle Tearing

Arm muscle pain or shoulder pain usually occurs when you lift or throw something out of control. Sudden movements can cause muscle tear. Acute muscle tears are often seen in cold weather. The main reason for this; low temperatures and stiffness of the muscles. In order to prevent muscle tear, extra time is required to warm up in weather conditions.

Chronic muscle tear occurs as a result of repeated movements. The causes of chronic muscle tears may be as follows. Rowing, tennis, baseball or golf, such as sports, while working at the table back to keep the horn in a long side position and poor posture (posture) are among the options.

What Is Good For Muscle Tearing?

Rest: Completely avoid anything that can increase your pain level by moving. Too much rest causes the muscles to weaken. It can seriously prolong the healing process.
Ice Application: If you feel your muscle is damaged, apply ice treatment immediately. Because of this application method, the possibility of swelling is minimized. Do not contact ice directly with your skin. Wrap by putting a cloth or towel. Otherwise it will burn. Keep the ice on the damaged muscle group for an average of 20 minutes. This method is very important in the first day. Therefore, apply this treatment every hour. Apply ice treatment every four hours the next day.

Put on a Bandage: To reduce swelling, put on an elastic bandage until swelling. Be careful not to cover the damaged part too much. This can reduce blood circulation.

NOTE: The nature of each muscle rupture may be different. It is important to consult your doctor before applying these techniques.
